What is Japan Audio Society

Japan Audio Society (JAS) was established in 1952 to promote an audio technology and a culture in Japan.
It became the public-interest corporation the purpose of whom was the popularization of the Audio and the Audio-Visual field in 1992.

A society is composed of the member of the company and the individual which plays an active part at the audio and in the audio-visual field.

Japan Audio Society is doing the operation of the hosting of A&V festival, doing the published of the monthly JAS Journal, the hosting of a conference, selling a reference CD/DVD and so on.

Thomas Edison invented “ Phonograph” for the first time in the world on December 6th of 1877.　On this day, the birthday of the audio can be said.

Therefore, the Japan Audio Society (JAS) made a lot of people know about the culture of the sound , and also asked for the prosperity of the industry and decided that December 6th is “ The Day of the Sound ” in 1994.

“ The Master of the Sound Award ” was established by the Society in 1996 for memorialize “ The Day of the Sound ” and is given in recognition of an outstanding development or achievement in the field of the sound technology and the culture.

〜Activities of Japan Audio Society〜

1. Research of the software, the hardware and the environment on the audio and visual system.
2. Technical promotion of the audio and visual system.
3. Technical recommendation and/or standardization of the audio and visual system.
4. Management of the technical information on the audio and visual system.
5. Exhibition of the audio and visual system, The A&V Festa
6. Education on the audio and visual system.
7. Cooperation with the other organization domestic and/or overseas on the audio and visual system.
8. Issue of the monthly magazine "JAS journal".
9. Production and the sale of the compact disc and DVD for the audio test & check.
10. Public promotion of “ The Day of the Sound ”, December 6th.
11. Presentation of the” The Master of Sound Award ”
12. Joint presentation of the “Professional Music Recording Award”.
13. Seminar for the audio engineering.
14. Education on the audio & visual system to the salesman and/or customer.
15. Support of the local event on the audio & visual system.
